Houston Winter Weather
Winter weather in Houston is normally not very wintery. However, the first two winters I have lived here, it has snowed! Also, it got into the teens for 3 nights in a row! Record breaking winter weather, I just can't get away from it!
Here are a few pics of our snowy Houston home.

Marley!
My favorite song (Three Little Birds) is on Channel V here in the hotel! I didn't even know there was a video for this song.

The Zester

I had an incident with the zester while prepping the chicken last night. The chicken turned out great though, I'll post a pic soon!

Stuck Again
I'm stuck in the same spot, trying to get off of 610. I hate 610. I'm going to come up with a route to avoid it on my home bound commute.

Waiting on a Houston Highway
I have been sitting here waiting to get off the highway for 10 minutes. Not sure what the hold up is. 2 trucks off roaded. I get to watch these three dudes. Kind of awkward.

Great Weekend
I made it home around 3:30 yesterday, which was about 3.5 hours after I was supposed to. That is not as bad as the DC trip where I was about 7 hours late! I got a $150 voucher for my next United flight, which is much nicer that the $25 voucher I got for my DC delay with Air Tran.
The dogs are all happy and healthy, Domi and Nate did a great job watching them! They have a few dog walking pictures I'll post later this week.
Jared enjoyed his trip to Charleston for Tim's wedding. I am looking forward to going through the pictures, and hearing all the stories. I am disappointed I missed the wedding.
I had a great time watching Taber get married, and seeing all of my old friends. I would love to see them more often. As per usual, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Vetty and Joel, and it was great that my folks were able to come down and visit as well! Plenty of pictures to come!

The High Cost of Blogging
While I was in my room blogging, two of my dogs ate the back of one of my shoes, and half of a pair of my undies. Where is the other half you say? I'm sure I'll find it in the yard tomorrow.

Also, I came across a puppy picture of Tancred. Wasn't he the cutest?!?!?

Our Wedding Videos
I am now mourning the loss of our wedding videos. I wanted to post a few today, but they are not on either of our computers, our external hard drives, or the camera. Very sad.
UPDATE:
We found the wedding videos about 6 months after this post! They were on Jared's school computer for some odd reason. Neither of us have any recollection of putting them there. Thank goodness though!

Layover to Bachelor Party
Nothing like an Acai smoothie from Freshens and the "How to Fix the World" issue of the Atlantic to fuel me through the layover.

Volunteering
So it isn't as easy to volunteer outside of the HSPCA, or any other animal rescue facilities in Houston that don't kill Pitts for being Pitts. I will continue to donate my time to the HSPCA, and support all other organizations that keep all adoptable animals alive. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

Quitting the HSPCA

I can no longer volunteer at the HSPCA.
Since I began volunteering at the HSPCA I knew that they put down pit bulls regardless of temperament, health, or adoptability. I strongly disagree with this policy. I understand that it is impossible to have 100% no kill animal rescue facilities due to the gross pet overpopulation, but there is no reason to put down a dog for its breed, and no other reason.
I thought I could volunteer at the HSPCA despite my disagreement with this policy because I was not going to volunteer in admissions. That didn't work out. This past weekend someone stopped me in the parking lot of the HSPCA and handed me a very friendly, yet very scared, female pit bull he had found tied up under a highway. I called the other resuces in Houston, and no one had room, or would put her down because she was a pit bull. I wanted to bring her home, but was told this posed too great of a health risk to our dogs.
This pit bull is now dead.
I plan to contact pit bull resuces in the area and see what I can do to help. I will also start volunteering with free spay and neuter clinics, because if the shelters weren't overpopulated, this weekend's pit bull may still be alive.
