Mom Cooks

Both Mom and Pa love cooking, so Mom was happy to cook for us one night. She made a rhubarb cake (this is in addition to the rhubarb crisp she made for the cookout).

Mmm, rhubarb.

Here is the cake prior to cooking.

Mmm, cooked cake. Jared and I finished it last night, along with the leftover crisp.

Here is the delicious salad.

Here is the chicken curry. We thought it was funny how Mom and I served ourselves. Mom likes the sauce!

The Cookout

We had a cookout at Dan and Doreen's. What a great time that was! Doreen's mother Trouta came, as well as Ree, Quinn, and Rex.

Here is Pa petting Blaze.

Ree tells a story.

Pa, Dan, and Blaze.

Here is Ree's amazing dip. It is impossible to stop eating it.

Here is Trouta's potato salad. Oh man was it ever GOOD!

All those phones!

Here is Uncle Dan's homemade sauerkraut. Mom said she'll make her own when she gets home. It is delicious!

Here are the raw burgers. Mmm. Mom made the ones with the thumbprint.

Here is the rhubarb crisp Mom made. You can't get cheap rhubarb in Houston, so this was a much welcome treat.

Here are Mom and Dan cooking the meat. It was so hot outside. I believe it got to 104 degF that day without the heat index.

Now THAT looks good!

Botox Where?!?

We spent one afternoon with Pa's sister Ree. She took us to her office where she, Mom, and I got some Botox! If you don't like needles, you probably shouldn't look at this post.

Here is the fantastic view from the office. We enjoyed watching the construction below.

Mom went first. Here she is, getting ready for the fun!

Here Mom is, getting some shots! She said the worst part was between the eyes. She felt a little sick afterwards, but that lasted only a few minutes.

Now it's my turn! I got my armpits Botoxed, and it has seriously been the best thing EVER. All my life I have had to choose what I wear based on how it will look when I start to sweat through it. I have wanted to get this done for so long, and it has been even better than I expected.

The doctor marked me up. How exciting!

Mom was still in the big chair, so I got my Botox done in the guest seating.

And here's the shot. It hurt, but it is much less painful than a tattoo.

Visit with Karla and Phil

We had a great time visiting with Mom's sister Karla and her husband Phil. I didn't do a good job taking pictures though. We went to Divinos and got their Tuesday special, osso buco. It was delicious.

Here is Mom with Karla.

Mom's Beads

I would love it if I had the patience and talent to do bead work like this.

Wine Gift

Pa found this ROJO wine for me. Perfect for JoRoe! It tasted great too.

KST with M&P

Mom and Pa left early Friday morning. I miss having them around already, and the dogs do too. Before they got here I was worried about how Mom would feel about Tancred, but it worked out great. She got used to the leg licking! Here are a bunch of pictures of us simply spending time with each other.

This was their first night here. Mom is getting to know Tancred.

Here is Pa with Sundog and Kirsche.

Mom got a fantastic pair of cowboy boots! Here are the boots, and Mom petting Tancred.

Here is Sundog snuggling up to Mom. She and Pa got used to him jumping up whenever he felt like it.

Mom brought a scarf to do some bead work. Tancred curled up behind her.

I have a wonderful dog encyclopedia called "The Dog Bible". Here is Pa, reading about some unusual breeds with Kirsche.

Sundog perches on the back of couches and chairs like a cat. He curled up right behind Pa.

Jared was not able to take any time off because he is an intern for ExxonMobil Chemical. He was quite tired because he still stayed up with us most nights. Here he is spending some time with the dogs after work.

Mohawk Dog

My groomer sent me these pics of another Schnauzer she grooms. The owner loves the mohawk. I think it would look cute on Sundog!

Kirsche Haircut

Kirsche got her haircut last Saturday. Our groomer takes a before and after picture, here they are. She nicked her ears a couple times, we'll probably leave them a bit longer next time.

Mom & Pa Visit

It started raining so we moved under the garage.

Mom & Pa Visit

Here is Mom, chilling with her boots and a beer.

Mom & Pa Visit

Mom and Pa got here yesterday just after 7:00. They drove from Wausau. Mom already has new cowboy boots! Here are the dogs hanging out with the boots.

Balloon

The balloon is already gone. I hope that wherever it lands, it does not choke an animal.

Balloon

There is a balloon outside my window. I wonder how long it will stay.

No More Carpet!

We FINALLY got around to taking the carpet out of the back room. It was horrible. The previous owner left a dog or two in there, so the carpet smelled from day one. Kirsche and Tancred didn't help the situation. The carpet is gone, and our house smells fantastic!

Sorry, this is pretty gross. Tancred was sick for a couple days, and couldn't hold his liquid poo while we were at work. We tried to clean it out of the carpet, but it wasn't working. That was what inspired us to finally rip the carpet out. To help the smell last night, Jared cut the gross parts out of the carpet.

Here is the carpet before we started tearing it out.

We got the carpet out easily. The hard part was pulling the boards and nails out. I will surely be sore tomorrow.

Here is what we found under the carpet . This was a spot we thought was clean!

Here is the carpet we knew was dirty. No wonder we could never get the smell out. Disgusting.

The dogs watched us from the other room. These bars were installed because Tancred ate his way through the wood slats. I hope I'm not discouraging anyone from dog ownership! They are wonderful animals.

What a dusty mess. I swept, vacuumed, then mopped.

And we're done! It took us two hours. It doesn't look super nice, but it looks and SMELLS so much better than before. We'll install some type of cleanable floor within the next year or so.
