Houston Winter Weather

Winter weather in Houston is normally not very wintery. However, the first two winters I have lived here, it has snowed! Also, it got into the teens for 3 nights in a row! Record breaking winter weather, I just can't get away from it!

Here are a few pics of our snowy Houston home.

Beard Off

Jared shaved his beard today! I can't believe it! It's been about about three years since he's been beardless. He and one of his classmates are having a contest to see who can grow the best beard in 6 weeks.

We're in Dayton

Just landed! Jared is calling his folks. Someone behind me is chewing gum extremely loud. I hate that more than most things. #fb

Small Plane

Such a small plane for our direct flight to Dayton! #fb

Domi Opens her Presents

Mom and Pa sent Domi's birthday gifts to our house. My Memphis zip code was accidentally used instead of my Houston zip code, so we weren't sure when/if the package was going to arrive at all. Thankfully, it ended up getting to our house Saturday, only 1 day after Domi's birthday! Here are the happy opening pictures!

As you can see, the dogs were very interested in the event.

The Twin's Golden Birthday

The twins turned 27 on the 27th! Sadly, Vetty wasn't with us, but we had a great time celebrating with Domi.

We surprised Domi with a French restaurant, Max and Julie's. This was recommended by Dan and Doreen. Oh man was it good. Before the restaurant we stopped at Dan and Doreen's for some French champagne (the only kind?) and French cheese roll things (I don't remember what they're called) that Doreen made. Again, so good! I need to get that recipe.

Here are a few of the dishes. Jared got the onion soup and beef tips, Domi got the veal, I got chicken and Nate got a beef stew. Pictures of my and Nate's meals didn't turn out.

After the restaurant we went to Anvil Bar. The beer and drinks were great! I was the DD, so I had a small taste of everyone elses drinks.

Domi once ate an entire pineapple in one sitting, and we still pick on her for it. Here she is trying to eat what looks like a giant pineapple.

And here we are on the way home. A good time was had by all.

Relaxing after a night of fun.

Thanksgiving 2009

Domi and Nate came down from Austin for the weekend. We went to Thanksgiving dinner at our Aunt Karla's house. We brought deviled eggs (with Nate's homemade mayo), potato rolls, and a salad. #fb

Here are some pictures from Thanksgiving Day. (All of the Thanksgiving pics are Domi's, my camera was dead.)

Nate's mayo.

Jared and me working on the eggs.

Nate and Jared mixing up the eggs. We did one southwest ranch, and one dill mustard. The dill mustard one was so good! I big hit.

The eggs.

I made the dough for the potato rolls in the bread maker, and baked them in the oven. This is the best recipe ever, thanks Mom!

Domi made the salad and salad dressing. So good.

Here is the delicous turkey Uncle Phil made.

Full plates, and full husbands.

Aunt Karla, Domi, and me.

And the Packers won the game!

Holding Jakarta Zoo Animals

The coolest thing about this zoo was getting to hold some baby animals, so that gets its own post! It was $1 per animal, can you believe that?

Here I am with the baby orangutan. I wanted to stay and play, but they're extremely strong. So super cute!

Here is the baby white tiger. I got to play with him for a while. He was like a sleepy puppy!

Here is my driver petting a baby leopard.

And here I am sitting with an adult leopard. So scary, I was very scared. But I figured if someone had been killed doing this, the zoo would have been shut down.
